GlobalFoundries Partners with Silicon Catalyst to Accelerate Semiconductor Innovation

GlobalFoundries (Nasdaq: GFS) (GF) has joined Silicon Catalyst, the only incubator and accelerator exclusively focused on semiconductor solutions, as a Strategic and In-Kind Partner. This partnership aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of next-generation applications, particularly in the fields of IoT, automotive, generative AI, medical, and quantum computing. Through this collaboration, GF will provide early-stage startups access to its cutting-edge platforms, including 22FDX, Silicon Photonics, and Gallium Nitride (GaN), along with essential resources like PDKs, MPWs, Foundation IP, and Reference Designs.

As a Strategic Partner, GF will actively participate in the recruitment and selection process of startups for Silicon Catalyst’s program. This collaboration strengthens GF’s market leadership in semiconductor innovation by giving it direct access to emerging technologies from promising startups, ultimately enhancing its ability to deliver customized, market-leading solutions.

Key Partnership Details:

• Platforms Provided: GF’s 22FDX, Silicon Photonics, Gallium Nitride (GaN).

• Resources for Startups: Access to PDKs, MPWs, Foundation IP, and Reference Designs.

• Focus Areas: IoT, automotive, generative AI, medical, and quantum computing.

• Role: Strategic Partner for startup recruitment, In-Kind Partner for technology and resource access.

• Broader Impact: Fuels semiconductor innovation and accelerates time to market for startups.

Mark Wade, CEO and Co-Founder of Ayar Labs, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “Our long-standing partnership with GlobalFoundries has been instrumental in bringing our groundbreaking optical I/O solution to market.” He highlighted how access to GF’s platforms allows companies like Ayar Labs to focus on advancing AI infrastructure.

Gregg Bartlett, GF’s Chief Technology Officer, added, “By partnering with Silicon Catalyst, we will work with early-stage start-ups, giving us a first-hand view into emerging innovations, to push the boundaries of our differentiated technologies.”

Pete Rodriguez, CEO of Silicon Catalyst, also praised the partnership, saying, “Our collaboration with GF offers startups a unique opportunity to engage with differentiated, cost-effective solutions, fueling a new cycle of semiconductor innovation.”
